Description

This delicious buttercream frosting is perfect for cakes and cupcakes!


Ingredients

  • 5 cups unsalted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • gel food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat 5 cups unsalted butter until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add 2 cups powdered sugar, starting on low speed then increasing to medium-high until fully mixed.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons heavy cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon almond extract. Beat until fluffy and smooth.
  4. Adjust consistency: add a teaspoon of cream if too thick or 1 tablespoon powdered sugar if too thin.
  5. Tint with gel food coloring as desired and mix until evenly colored.

Notes

  • This frosting can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Bring the frosting to room temperature before using.
