Ingredients

- 2 slices your favorite bread (sourdough, whole grain, or white)
- 1 medium pear, thinly sliced
- 1 medium apple, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar, gouda, or brie work well)
- 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: fresh thyme or rosemary for added flavor
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and add the sliced onions.
- Cook the onions until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
- In another pan, spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side, layer pear, apple, cheese, and caramelized onions.
- Top with the other slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Grill until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Season with salt, pepper, and optional herbs before serving.
